Another municipal bankruptcy is on the horizon for California. This time, it is the town of Mammoth Lakes, CA, as the Town Council unanimously approved the decision to file for bankruptcy on July 2, 2012. One of the major reasons it is filing bankruptcy is the Town’s inability to repay a Court judgment entered against it for $43 Million. Cases such as these show that even municipalities are struggling to pay bills in the recent economic downturn.
